KOOTENAY BOUNDARY REGIONAL HOSPITAL:
BC Cancer is creating a Community Oncology Network clinic to serve the Kootenay Boundary region of BC’s interior. The clinic, once fully staffed, will consist of four Medical Oncologists and one GP Oncologist, along with nursing and clerical support, working in the lovely city of Trail, BC. While working in the cancer clinic in Trail, you will be a member of the BC Cancer Kelowna Medical Oncology department, which consists of 28 Medical Oncologists, GPO’s and NP’s. The Trail Cancer Clinic will offer innovative therapy in a personalized practice environment, housed in the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, a 75-bed regional hospital offering on-site Radiology, Pathology, Surgery and Pharmacy services. The Trail Cancer Clinic serves a network of local communities, with a catchment area of approximately 100,000 people, performing over 600 consultations and related care per year. The Clinic will administer a full range of IV and oral systemic therapies.
PRACTICE DETAILS: As a BC Cancer Medical Oncologist working in Trail, you will have the support of your colleagues in the clinic and be part of a close-knit team of physicians, clerks, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and dietitians, all integrated with the local surgeons, radiologists and pathologists. As part of BC Cancer Kelowna, aligned with our Interior Health partner, you will have the support of regional and provincial colleagues, provincial and regional tumour groups, and tumour board conferences for case discussions. In the future, clinical trials enrollment will be supported at the Clinic, increasing research and care opportunities. British Columbians have among the lowest cancer mortality rates in the country, and have access to state-of-the-art therapies. Our provincial cancer system structure is a key element of our success and ample opportunity exists for collaboration across and within our provincial tumour groups. As a Medical Oncologist, you will report to the BC Cancer Kelowna Head of Medical Oncology for issues related to professional practice, research, teaching and standards of care.
